If you’re like me, and you probably are if you’re reading this, then you like to enjoy everything a game has to offer, especially after paying fifty bucks to buy it and then another fifteen a month to play it! In this article I’m going to show you some tips on how to stop wasting your time and get to leveling fast in World of Warcraft. Also I’m going to show you the secret weapons the hardcore gamers use to make enough gold for the most coveted items in the game, the epic mounts!
SO THERE I WAS IN AZEROTH …
Step 1. Picking your Faction and Character Class. Faction is far less important than server choice when it comes to your ability to level fast in World of Warcraft. This also holds true for saving up enough gold for your epic mounts. Your experience will be similar on both horde and alliance, with one caveat: on PVE servers the population of Alliance is often higher, which can lead to more selling opportunities at the auction house and more grouping opportunities if you choose to level in dungeons.
Your character class will be the single most important decision you make in your quest to level fast in World of Warcraft. How terrible would you feel if you spent all that time leveling to 70 and buying your epic mounts and then realize you can’t stand the class you chose?
Ask yourself:
Do you like to play by yourself most of the time and solo through the quests? Or do you prefer to level up in the dungeons in groups and help out others as well as yourself?
If you like to solo, then the three best classes are 1. Hunter 2. Warlock 3. Druid.
If you like to Group, then the three best classes are 1. Priest 2. Druid/Paladin 3. Warrior.
When it comes to race, just pick whatever you think looks best. You want to be comfortable with how your character looks or you will get sick of playing it down the line. And Don’t worry about the character specific abilities, they don’t matter at all in the long run.
Step 2. Choosing a Server. The biggest mistake most people make when starting World of Warcraft is also the first mistake you can possibly make. PICKING THE WRONG SERVER. I can’t stress this enough, picking the wrong server is SO important to the process of leveling fast and making gold in this game.
First you’ll want to ignore the recommended server choice that the Login menu provides you. Go straight to the main list. From there look for servers with HIGH or MEDIUM populations. Sure on LOW population servers you may experience less competition for in game resources in the peak times, but you will also be faced with horrible economies, terrible group questing opportunities (which become very important in later levels), and a lesser PVP experience if you choose to make use of that facet of the game later on. To get to 70 quickly, all these facets of the game are very important.
As far as PVP servers go. Just don’t do it. This is especially true if you are a beginner and want to level as fast as possible. The best PVP experiences in the game are available even on the PVE servers — battlegrounds and the arena system. General world PVP is a complete waste of time. There are no rewards and you’ll be repeated killed by high level, cowardly players who will attack you while you are killing a monster and then sit on your corpse and wait for you to come back so they can do it again. It’s just a huge waste of time.
Step 3. Basic Gameplay. Bind your keys! This is super important. Binding your character’s abilities to a quickly reachable key on your keyboard will not only make you a skilled player in PVP, but it will increase your leveling time ten fold. To level fast in world of warcraft you will need both knowledge AND skill. The faster you cut through enemies and the better you are at taking down multiple enemies in a row, the faster you will level and collect items to sell for massive amounts of gold.
QUESTING VS. GRINDING
If you don’t know what grinding is, it is the act of parking your character in one spot in the world of Azeroth and killing the same creatures over and over again for experience and loot. Many so called hard core gamers will tell you that to level fast in World of Warcraft you absolutely have to grind! Don’t listen these people — IT ISN’T. Grinding will just make you want to kill yourself after a few hours and is no way to enjoy the game.
If you want to Level to 70 in World of Warcraft in the FASTEST possible time, then doing quests efficiently is the only way to go. It also happens to be the most fun.
Quests are also a good way to make money. Once you get to level 70 this is especially true. In the Outlands, which is the new game world you get to experience after level 60 if you’ve bought the World of Warcraft expansion, you earn gold instead of experience after you hit level 70. This is an incredibly powerful way to earn enough for the super expensive epic flying mounts that you get at the end of the game.
Step 4. Save for your Mounts. To really level fast in World of Warcraft your character is going to have make some investments in itself. However, keep in mind this doesn’t mean spending all your money at the auction house every time you see a player put up a shiny new sword for you to buy that does .4 more damage. It’s entirely possible and even recommended to NEVER spend a single copper at the auction house while leveling to 70 in World of Warcraft quickly and efficiently.
Have your character learn mining and skinning early and save all the ore and skins you collect into stacks of 20. Once you have a few stacks of 20, sell them on the auction house. Keep doing this as you level up and you should have enough for your first mount at level 40 and for your epic mount again at level 60.
USE THE TOOLS THE PROS USE
There are many leveling and gold guides out there that players with even more experience than myself have written to help you out in the almost overwhelming world Blizzard has created. To level fast in World of Warcraft I find these guides almost indispensable.
Also, don’t be suckered in by those overpriced guides available in brick and mortar stores such as Best Buy and Borders. All you’re going to get is a huge paper weight full of pretty pictures and OUTDATED information.
Don’t make the same mistake I did and run out and buy one of these guides to help you get started. I completely wasted my time and money.
Think about this way — If you wanted to be the best possible bowler you could be and didn’t want to waste your time treading water in a sea of mediocrity, wouldn’t you want to invest a little in your success? After all, if you’re going to be spending hours a day doing something, you’d think you’d want to get good at it as soon as possible.
A good guide is like a coach and is absolutely the best investment you can make when playing this game.
Below are the guides I’ve used in the past and they are absolutely the best video game guides I’ve ever read. These interactive tools have saved me weeks of time and frustration in World of Warcraft.
Top 3 World of Warcraft Guides
Follow my tips and you’ll see that to find success in World of Warcraft you don’t have to be a basement dweller and spend months at the keyboard drudging through the game. Using the tricks I’ve talked about above and the three fantastic guides, I was able to level two characters to 70 in just eight days each. Not only that, but both characters were rich enough to buy my Epic Flying Mount just hours later finishing the final quest.
My name is Erik and I’ve been playing World of Warcraft for over 3 years. When I first started I was overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of Blizzard’s world and wasted hundreds of hours drudging my way to level 60 and then level 70. But if your new to the game, you don’t have to make the same mistakes that I did! Just follow the tips laid out in my guide and you’ll been one step ahead of the millions of others playing World of Warcraft
