Everyone who is actively playing World of Warcraft knows that the most fun in the game starts once you are max level and are able to take part in running Heroic Mode Dungeons and Normal and Heroic Mode Raids. Firstly, because at level 80 (the current max level) you have learned all your skills and abilities and have spent all your talent points and obtained as proper end game gear as you can, and secondly – because it is where it gets social and you make new friends, or play with old friends you know in real life.
The good news is that there will be plenty of new dungeons and content come World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Some of them will even include a Heroic Mode to old dungeons such as the Deadmines. This is something really cool in my opinion, as we all know how painful that place is if you go there at level 15. Imagine going there at level 80 or even 85 and facing Van Cleef once more…however, this time he will also have new tricks in his sleeves. I’m really looking forward to this one!
At this point the developers have announced 4 new raids, 6 new dungeons and 2 old world heroics, so lets take a look:
Raids:
Blackwing Descent – new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Raid. Featuring Blackwing Lair somewhat. Nefarian will return once more to bring us many epixes, together with new creatures and new art bosses to defeat.
The Firelands – new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Raid. It will be located on the Elemental Plane of Fire. Even the name sounds very exciting and seems like we will find more of the *fire=bad* logic in there. We know this simple rule from many other instances before starting from Molten Core, through Sunwell and Icecrown. Seems like we will see some more of it in Cataclysm. It will be an outdoor instance, which sounds pretty cool. The most interesting part is that the featured boss in The Firelands is… Ragnaros. For the hardcore players who had the chance to meet him in Molten Core at level 60 it is well know he’s a pain, and guess what – he is returned, even bigger, and meaner…
Skywall – new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Raid. It will be located in the Air Elemental Plane. We don’t know much about it just yet, but it will be raid for level 85 players.
Grim Batol – new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Raid. It is also announced as the final raid in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, so we will most likely have to fight Deathwing there. Nothing is announced about it yet though, so we will have to wait and see what the developers have in mind.
Dungeons:
Blackrock Caverns – new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. It will be located in the Blackrock Mountain and will feature new bosses and new art creatures. I also heard that The Beast will still be there, just adjusted to the proper level and with new abilities, but this may or may not be true.
Grim Batol – new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. It will be possible to visit this dungeon as we level up and is for players who are on their way to level 85. It will be located in same new area as the raid dungeon with same name, however I think that eventually the name on one of the dungeons will change to something more distinguishable.
Deepholm – new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. Rumors say that this will actually be located in Deepholm where you will be able to take portals to some of the new zones. Nothing much is known at this point about the Dungeon itself though, but it makes sense if it features 5 man Deathwing or some of his most important generals. At this point we can only speculate about who will be the final boss in this 5 man dungeon.
Lost City of Tol’Vir- new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. This will be an outdoor dungeon. I always find outdoor dungeons more fun to play, so I’m looking forward to this one as well. At this point there is no more information available about what this instance will feature, but I’m sure it will be something fun and worth visiting.
Abyssal Maw – new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. It will be for lower level players, at least it seems to be designed for players leveled at 78-82 if nothing changes by the time the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is out. The interesting part about it is that it will be located in the Sunken City of Vash’jir, on the very ocean floor. I’m very curious to see how this one will work out, with all the battles being under water.
Halls of Origination – new WoW Cataclysm dungeon. It appears that this dungeon will be located in Uldum and will have Egyptian style graphics art elements. I guess some of the Titans will be here so watch out what you are doing, and also guess what – Brann Bronzebeard is back too.
WoW Cataclysm Old World Heroic: Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep. We don’t know much about the new abilities just yet, but the dungeon art will most likely remain the same. The new thing about it is that you will be able to go at higher level and loot epixes from Van Cleef and Arugal who have plagued you so much when you were just a noob. It will be your time now to get revenge, together with some new quality items.
